Calendar

The calendar gives you a firm-wide view of what's coming up — every task and deadline across all your open matters, laid out by date. Reach it from Calendar in the sidebar.

Month view — each day shows its tasks and deadlines, colour-coded by type and priority.

Month and week views

Switch between Month and Week with the toggle in the top-right. Use the arrows to move between periods and Today to jump back to the current date; today's cell is highlighted. Month view is best for the big picture; week view gives each day more room and shows the matter beneath each entry.

Week view — more detail per day, with the matter name under each task or deadline.

What appears on the calendar

The calendar draws together two kinds of entry from your open matters (closed matters are left off):

  • Tasks — shown on their due date. A task also appears as a deadline if it was flagged as an actual deadline when created (see Tasks).
  • Deadlines — the date fields on a matter that are marked as deadlines, such as a filing or renewal date (see Data Fields).

Entries are colour-coded so you can read a day at a glance — the legend at the bottom shows Task, Task (Medium), Task (High), Deadline and Acknowledged. Where a day has more entries than fit, a +N more link reveals the rest. You can also drag an entry to another day to reschedule it.

Rescheduling or completing a task

Click a task to open its quick-action popover. From here you can Reschedule it with one click — Tomorrow, 3 Days, 1 Week, 2 Weeks, 3 Weeks, 1 Month or 3 Months — or Mark complete to clear it. The task's matter is linked in the popover if you need to open the file.

Clicking a task lets you reschedule it or mark it complete without leaving the calendar.

Acknowledging a deadline

Deadlines can't be rescheduled from the calendar — they reflect real dates on the matter — but you can acknowledge them to record that you've seen and actioned them. Click a deadline and choose Acknowledge.

Click a deadline to review it, then acknowledge it.

Once acknowledged, the deadline records who acknowledged it and when, and switches to the acknowledged colour so the whole team can see it's been dealt with.

An acknowledged deadline — stamped with the person and date for an audit trail.

Tip

Which date fields count as deadlines is set on the matter type — see Fields. Overdue tasks also drive the badge on the dashboard Tasks list.
