Tasks & WIP
The Tasks view turns the dashboard into a firm-wide to-do list. Every task across every matter appears in one sortable, filterable table — so you can see what's overdue, what's coming up, and who's responsible, without opening each matter individually.
Opening the tasks view
Click Tasks in the sidebar. The item carries a badge showing how many tasks are overdue, so you know at a glance whether anything is slipping. Underneath, your saved Task Views (such as WIP) give one-click access to pre-filtered task lists.
The columns
Each row is a task, with columns that tell you everything you need to triage it:
- Task — what needs doing (e.g. "Client conference on national phase strategy").
- Matter — the matter it belongs to, so you have context.
- Due Date — when it's due.
- Assigned To — who's responsible.
- Status — whether it's Overdue or Pending.
- Priority — Low, Medium or High.
- WIP — a tag column marking work in progress (see below).
Overdue vs pending
A task is Overdue when its due date has passed and it hasn't been completed; otherwise it's Pending. This is the same logic behind the overdue badge on the Tasks sidebar item, so the badge count and the list always agree. Sort by Status or Due Date to bring the most urgent work to the top.
Creating and managing tasks
Click + New Task to add a task. Use the Search… box to find a specific one, sort any column with its header chevrons, and filter by typing in a column header. Checkboxes let you select several tasks at once for bulk actions.
Using WIP and tags to focus
Tasks can carry tags, and a WIP (work-in-progress) tag is a common way to mark the tasks you're actively working. Because the WIP tag surfaces as its own column, you can see at a glance which tasks are in flight — and a saved WIP task view filters the list down to just those items.
