Overview & Panels
The Overview is the home screen of a single matter. It gives you a one-glance dashboard of everything happening on the file — tasks, key contacts, important dates, notes, documents and recent emails — arranged as panels you can rearrange to suit how you work.
The matter header
Every section of a matter shares the same header. It shows the matter's title, a badge for its matter type (for example PCT Patent Application), and the step breadcrumb tracing its progress through the workflow. Key fields configured on the matter type can also appear here — see Data Fields for pinning.
On the right of the header you'll find three controls:
- The related-matters icon, for jumping between linked files — see Linked Matters.
- + New, a quick-create menu for a task, file note, email, SMS, document or invoice — see Steps & Progress.
- The sparkle button, which opens the AI assistant.
The tab bar
The sidebar tabs move you from the Overview into the matter's dedicated sections: Tasks, Roles, Data Fields, File Notes, Communications, Time, Timeline and Documents. The Overview panels are a summary; each section is the full working view.
Working with panels
The Overview opens with a default set of panels — Tasks, Key Contacts, Key Dates & Fields, Recent Notes, Recent Emails and Documents. Each panel is a live summary: click any row to open the relevant editor, and use the + on a panel header to add a new item of that kind.
Adding a panel
Click + Add Panel at the bottom of the Overview and choose a type — Tasks, Roles, Field Values, File Notes, Emails, Documents or Image. The new panel is added to the grid. An Image panel opens its settings straight away so you can pick which image field it displays.
Arranging the layout
Drag any panel to reposition it, and drag the handle in its bottom-right corner to resize it on the grid. Your layout is saved automatically as you go, so the arrangement is there next time you open a matter.
Note
Per-panel settings
Click the gear icon on a panel header to configure it. What you can adjust depends on the panel:
- Field panels (Key Dates & Fields) — rename the panel, restrict it to specific fields, choose which category tabs appear, and add, remove or reorder the Field, Value and Category columns.
- Task panels — rename the panel, choose which task statuses show (Pending, Overdue, Completed), and add, remove or reorder the Task, Due Date, Status, Assigned To, Priority and Tags columns.
Each settings card also has a Remove Panel option if you no longer need it. Save to apply your changes.
