Welcome to Cadence IP

Cadence IP is a workflow and matter-management system for patent and trade mark attorney firms. Whether you handle patents, trade marks, designs or all three, it keeps every matter — its steps, deadlines, contacts, correspondence, documents, time and invoices — in one place, and adds automations and an AI assistant to take care of the routine work.

What Cadence IP does

Each piece of work you handle — a provisional, a PCT application, a trade mark, a design — is a matter. Every matter belongs to a matter type that defines its workflow: the steps it moves through, the data fields it tracks, the roles (applicant, attorney, inventor, client) involved, and the templates used to generate its emails, letters and invoices.

From there, Cadence IP helps you:

• Track deadlines and progress across your whole caseload from the dashboard.
• Record time, raise invoices, and push them to your accounting package.
• Send and receive email and SMS against a matter, with reusable templates.
• Generate documents from templates with matter data merged in.
• Automate reminders, deadline calculations and status changes.
• Use the AI assistant to draft correspondence and propose actions for your approval.

How this documentation is organised

The menu on the left follows the shape of the app:

• The Dashboard — your home screen: the matters list, views, tasks, deadlines and queues.
• Working a Matter — everything on an individual matter screen.
• Configuring a Matter Type — how to set up workflows, fields, templates and automations.
• Settings — organisation-wide configuration and integrations.

Use the search box at the top (or press ⌘K / Ctrl K) to jump to any topic. Screenshots can be clicked to expand to full resolution.
