Configuring a Matter Type

IP Renewal Desk

IP Renewal Desk (IPRD) is a renewals service that tracks and pays maintenance fees. This section connects the matter type to IPRD so that matters and their renewal dates sync across automatically — you keep working in Cadence IP while IPRD handles the renewal schedule, without double entry between the two systems.

Connecting a matter type to IP Renewal Desk.

Before you begin

The integration needs your organisation's IP Renewal Desk account to be linked. When it is, this screen shows a Connected card confirming the link, with the option to Disconnect. If your account is not yet connected, arrange that at the organisation level first.

Enabling the integration

Turn on Enable integration to sync matters of this type with IPRD. Once enabled, the remaining configuration appears, letting you tell Cadence IP how its data lines up with IPRD's.

Mapping your data to IPRD

Because your matter type uses its own field and role names, you map them onto IPRD's expected inputs. Cadence IP auto-suggests likely matches by name to give you a head start, which you can then adjust. You typically configure:

  • Workflow — the IPRD workflow that governs how these matters' renewals are handled.
  • Date and number field mappings — which of your fields hold the reference, the renewal or next-renewal date, and the application details IPRD needs.
  • Role mappings — which of your roles correspond to IPRD's party types.
  • Sync conditions — rules that decide which matters of this type are actually synced, so you can limit it to those that qualify.

Official-fee, professional-fee and currency mappings are only needed when the IPRD workflow you select does not already carry its own fee schedule; otherwise IPRD supplies those figures.

Syncing

Save your settings once the mappings are in place. You can then run a bulk sync to push all qualifying matters of this type to IPRD in one operation; thereafter matters and renewal dates stay aligned as they change.

Note

This integration is configured per matter type, so each type can map to a different IPRD workflow and use the field and role names that suit it.
