File System

Cadence IP can optionally connect to a cloud storage provider so your matter documents also live in a familiar folder structure on your desktop. This is an organisation-wide setting, and it's entirely optional — the app works fully without it.

Connect a cloud storage provider to sync matter files for desktop access.

What file sync does

When a storage provider is connected, Cadence IP automatically organises matter files into folders and pushes documents to your cloud storage as they're created. That means the files attached to your matters also appear in your normal desktop file browser, in a tidy per-matter folder structure — handy for staff who prefer to work with documents outside the app.

Note

File sync is one-way and optional: documents are pushed out to your cloud storage when created. Everything in Cadence IP keeps working whether or not you turn it on.

Connecting storage

In the File Sync card, choose a provider and connect it:

  • Dropbox — click to connect and sign in to authorise Cadence IP.
  • Google Drive and OneDrive — shown as coming soon.

You'll be taken to the provider to sign in, then returned here with the connection active.

Once connected

After connecting Dropbox you can:

  • Test the connection to confirm Cadence IP can reach your storage.
  • Sync emails — toggle whether captured email is written out to the folder structure alongside documents.
  • Disconnect to stop syncing and remove the link.

For working with documents inside a matter, see Documents.
