File Notes
File notes are the running record of what has happened on a matter — the calls, decisions, strategy discussions and anything else worth remembering. They give you and your colleagues a clear, chronological account of the file.
Viewing file notes
The File Notes section lists notes in Date, Author and Note columns, most recent first, so you can quickly scan the history of a matter and see who recorded what. Click any note to open it in full and edit it. A summary of the latest notes also appears in the Recent Notes panel on the matter Overview, and each note is logged in the Timeline.
Adding a file note
Click + Add Note (or use + New → File Note in the header) to open the note editor. It's a rich-text editor with a formatting toolbar — bold, italic, underline, lists and links — so you can lay out a note clearly. Write the note and click Save Note.
Tip
To edit an existing note, open it from the list, make your changes and save again. A note can also be deleted from the editor if it was recorded in error.
